However, the tranquility in the tropics may change this week with the potential for not one, but tow systems developing, Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Brett Collar said.
The National Hurricane Center is monitoring two potential storms in the Atlantic. The first storm is near the Yucatan Peninsula near Mexico. The second storm is still well east of the Windward Islands.
The system east of the Windwards has a 60 percent chance to develop in the next five days, while the storm near Mexico has an 80 percent chance to develop in the next five days. This particular system, though, has the models baffled at this time. The GFS model has the storm developing and moving towards the Florida coastline by the middle part of the week, while the European model has the storm developing and moving towards Texas. Because it's still early, the forecast for this potential storm likely will change over the coming days.
