Juniors Emily Slabe of Liberty Twp. and Alisabeth Marsteller of Mason helped Ursuline Academy of Cincinnati with the Division I girls state swimming and diving championship at Canton. Ursuline senior Bridget Blood won an individual state championship in the 100-breaststroke, making this the second state championship for Ursuline this year and the first time the school has had two state championships in one school year. The Division I volleyball team won their sixth state championship this past November. The swimming team clinched its sixth team championship and first since 2002. The Lions had a 234-215 edge over runner-up Upper Arlington, who were the previous eight state team winners. Ursuline was second in state swimming in 2011 and ‘12.
