SOUTHWEST OHIO —

Skies should be fairly clear overnight into Tuesday, but wind chills are pushing temperatures to below zero.

Wind chills were below zero Monday night and will be 10 to 15 degrees below zero by sunrise, according to WHIO’s Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson. A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m.

“Time to frostbite with a -15 wind chill is about 30 minutes, so we encourage people to cover all skin if out for that long,” Simpson said.

The wind overnight will help in one way: It should help to dry the roads, so icy spots may not be too much of a factor.

Lighter winds and still mainly clear skies will mean overnight lows heading into Wednesday morning about 5 degrees.

“We climb up to 22 degrees Wednesday afternoon with sun giving way to clouds and perhaps a few more flurries Wednesday evening,” Simpson said.

“Then Thursday late through Friday morning a more significant system moves in. There is much disagreement with the computer forecast models right now on the track, which will make a difference between all snow and a mix or even some rain Thursday night. Right now we are leaning toward snow and perhaps at least a few inches.”

A warmer scenario could mean an icy mix for the south Thursday evening, or even rain for a while, but it will all end as snow Friday morning, potentially causing issues on the roads.

Highs Friday will be in the 20s and temperatures will be in the teens all day Saturday with a few more snow showers.
