The Area Progress Council’s Project Excellence program is seeking teacher nominations as it enters its 26th year of honoring public educators in Warren County. A total of 571 educators have been selected since the project began in 1988. Teachers will be selected from each of the county’s school districts.

To nominate a public educator who has made a difference, pick up a from the superintendent’s office of each school district, any public school building, any public library located in Warren County or any Warren County branch of LCNB National Bank, National Bank & Trust, 1st National Bank or US Bank. Nomination forms may also be downloaded at www.OhioInfo.org.

The educators will be honored May 1 at a recognition banquet held at the Warren County Career Center.

Committees to select the excellent teachers for each district comprise of an Area Progress Council representative, the district superintendent and a representative from the community. The committees utilize criteria developed by Miami University. Nominations are reviewed and evaluated by the individual district selection committees for key terms and/or phrases to determine the 2013 award recipients.

Project Excellence is a nonprofit foundation made possible by the volunteer efforts of business leaders who are interested in the quality of public education in Warren County. It is funded solely through the contributions of Warren County individuals, industries and businesses. The current endowment is valued at more than $1 million. The program has awarded $412,900.

Formally organized in 1969, APC is a nonprofit, non-political organization interested in the economic and social progress of Warren County. It is devoted to the study, investigation and promotion of activities to plan and prepare for the future.
