The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation IKEA, today announced a voluntary recall of IKEA KARLSTAD sofa-beds.

According to the recall, the mattress and seat cushions intended to be used as a mattress fail to meet the mandatory federal open flame standard for mattresses, posing a fire hazard to consumers. However, no injuries have been reported.

The item was sold at IKEA stores nationwide from November 2008 through July 2009 for about $850.

Consumers should immediately stop using the mattress and cushions and contact IKEA or visit the Returns and Exchange Department at their local IKEA store to arrange free installation of a replacement mattress and seat cushions. For more information, contact IKEA at (888) 966-4532 anytime, or visit www.ikea-usa.com.
