Columbus passes Indianapolis as 14th largest U.S. city

The newest Census population estimates show Columbus overtaking Indianapolis as the 14th largest city in the U.S.

That means Columbus is now also the second largest midwest city, behind only Chicago.

The new data, released Thursday, show population estimates as of July 1, 2016. To see how Dayton fared, follow this link. 

Columbus’s population was estimated to be 860,090, compared to 855,164 for Indianapolis. Cleveland lost population, according to the estimates, while Cincinnati was essentially flat.
