When you think of the word love, do you think of yarn? Check out this DIY project that uses a few simple things to make a Valentine’s Day decoration.

You will need

Purchased:

• One Styrofoam Heart — $3.99

• One piece of red felt — 60 cents

• One piece of black felt — 60 cents

• One large ball of gray yarn — $3.25

• Two 12 by ¼ inch dowel rods — 99 cents

Items I already had around the house:

• Scissors

• Gorilla Glue or a Hot Glue Gun

Directions

1. Start at the center point of your Styrofoam heart and, leaving a tail of about 2 inches out, wrap the yarn around the starting point a few times to secure it in place.

2. Continue wrapping the yarn around the entire form making sure to keep each strand placed tightly beside the other.

3. Once your entire form is wrapped with the yarn, tie the end piece with the tail of the starting piece. Tie them on the back side of the form so your knot won’t show from the front.

4. Use one of your dowel rods and place it diagonally in the center of the heart form. Press it into the inside of the heart to secure it in place.

5. Use your scissors to cut the second dowel rod into two even pieces. It is OK if one of the ends is rough, because it will be inside the heart form.

6. Use your red felt and cut out two equal-sized hearts to use as the point of your arrow. Glue these hearts to one of the dowel rods you just cut. Make sure to place your hearts so that the bottom point is sticking out as the arrow point.

7. Now use your black felt to cut out two elongated half-moon shapes. These will act as the other part of your arrow. Glue these on to the second dowel rod piece that you just cut.

8. Once dry, insert both rods on the outside of the heart form so that it looks like the arrow was shot right through the heart.

9. Hang your finished wreath on your door.
