Rebekkah Ford started writing at age 7. That’s when she lived in Fairfield with her parents, the then-directors of the city’s UFO Investigator’s League.

It was this supernatural background that helps her write her young adult paranormal series, Beyond the Eyes, about a young girl’s battle against evil spirits and romance with a spirit tracker.

How many books have you written? I’ve written three, but published two. My first book, “Beyond the Eyes,” was published last year. My second book of the series is “Dark Spirits” and was just published in February. (The series will consist of at least three books.)

Why do you like to write young adult paranormal books? I like writing young adult books because it’s fun, and although I’m no longer a teenager, I still feel like one.

What is the UFO Investigator’s League in Fairfield? My parents were the directors of the league back in the ‘70s and early ‘80s. They investigated anything and everything that was extraterrestrial - UFO sightings, abductions, crop circles. They also investigated ghost hauntings, paranormal activities and Bigfoot sightings.

Have you ever seen something unexplainable? Yes, we’ve experienced a lot of paranormal activities. We used to live in a haunted house. One night, my parents left a tape recorder on. The next morning, when they played it back, it sounded like a party was going on in our house. Wide-eyed, my mom looked at my dad and asked, “What are we going to do?” My dad looked at her and said, “I don’t care what they do, as long as they clean up their mess.”

How do these experiences help you write? Oh, wow. It helps me a lot. The way I grew up has given me an edge to write this genre.

Why would you suggest someone to read your books? As far as I know, there is nothing in this genre like my Beyond the Eyes series. I’d also like to think it’s plausible. I love reading books that make me wonder if it’s true or not. Hopefully, I accomplished that in this series.
